After the demise of my own website about nine months ago I finally have a clear idea of what comes next! :-)

I was using the website to create my own alternative universe and raise money for children's charities and conservationist projects. I used to post representative illustrations from the website here on deviantart to draw attention to the new items posted on the website, which featured a lot of artwork created by brilliant artists here on DA.   :-)

My plan now is to bring some of the complete ex-website features (rather than individual examples extracted from those features) here to share with you on deviantart. I plan to focus on features about the creation of my own universe (Newbold World) and I intend to display some of the original website features and some of the new post-website features being created right now. All the features will be illustrated and the vast majority of them have been or are being illustrated by artists here on deviantart.    :-)

The Skoog Astral Plane sits at the heart of the alternative universe called Newbold World. We are creating illustrated histories, stories and poetry about Skoog and Newbold World. I plan to use my Gallery here on deviantart to share with you some of the Newbo Snippets that give a brief introduction to key events, organisations and characters from our alternative universe. In the fulness of time I hope to show you some of the Newbold World full length histories, stories and poetry in my deviantart Portfolios.    :-)

We'll try to bring you something new at least once a month and we'll tell you whenever something new arrives in journal entries here in this deviantart Gallery.   :-)

For almost 10 years I've been running a small non commercial family website (called Newbold World) as a hobby. That website has enabled me to combine my passions for artwork, miniatures figures, OOAK creations and charitable works together with my own slightly eccentric style of storytelling into a single fun activity. Needless to say I've had a fabulous time doing it thanks to all the creative folk who've helped me over the years and all the visitors who've dropped by to see what we were doing. Right now I'm approaching 70 years of age and having just suffered a tiny computing disaster I feel that the time is right to cut back on my endeavours and do something a little less demanding.

As a result I'm planning to do no more work on the Newbold World website and I plan to close it and the Newbold Challenge (which has raised almost £50,000 GBP for a variety of charities since its inception in 2006) at the end of this year.

I'd like to say a very special thank you to all the super artists here on deviantart who have kindly allowed us to display their work in the Newbold World magazines and galleries and who entered the Challenge competitions in our early days. Your marvellous creations have brought a great deal of pleasure to my family and to the wide range of folk from all over the world who visited the website over the years.

I will continue to spend a little time on my own amateur storytelling (although on a much smaller scale than before) and I will have some of it illustrated by my friends here on deviantart. So I'll still have a few things to share with you if you'd care to visit me here on deviantart from time to time.

We have just released Issue 3 of the Skoog Gazette which gives very brief illustrated previews of a four features that we'll be adding to Planet Darkov on the Newbold World website during the next three or four months or so.

Every society in the universe appears to have its own darker side and Planet Darkov fulfils that role within the Skoog Fusion Setting that we are creating on Newbold World. Darkov is a chaotic, wild and dangerous place. Violence, decadence and corruption abound there. As always there are some folk dedicated to improving things but it looks as though it will be a particularly long hard fight if they are to prevail on Planet Darkov.

Issue 3 of the Skoog Gazette features a little artwork by four DA artists (Ange10, Kceon, kimir-ra and twosheds1) If you'd like to see the previews and the illustrations you'll find Issue 3 over at our place at :- www.newboldworld.com/NewboMag/…
